You can tell me about your bad employer right here. Mine is a snoop so I can't leave traces of an email addy around. I can clear my history every time I go online. And yes I am a live-in. But boy do I have stories. Tell me yours.

I am the original poster of the "Really Bad Single Mama" post and wanted to share an update. I thought that the situation had improved at least a little bit but unfortunately, I don't think it has. The mom and her 5 kids moved in with her boyfriend earlier this summer. A lot of the information about what is going on now is second-hand because I no longer have contact with the mother. I had co-signed her lease at the last house and now that they have moved out, I'm stuck with a bill for over $2,100 because they trashed the house (as you can tell from the picture in my original post).

Anyway, the oldest child (a boy) decided that he wanted to move in with his grandmother so he could go to a different school. I certainly believe that he had other reasons as well. The mom has refused to give the grandmother any financial help for her taking in the child. This boy has told quite a few people that his mom and her boyfriend drink large amounts of alcohol all the time (cases of beer and bottles of Crown Royal). He also says that they go out in the evenings quite a bit and leave the kids home alone. I'm not sure if this is still happening now that he has moved out because he was the "babysitter."

At the beginning of the summer, the mom decided that she couldn't handle the second oldest so she sent him to stay with her brother for a while. During this time, the boy had an accident that nearly completely severed one of his fingers. Thankfully, the doctors were able reattach the finger.

Now the mom has bleached the 8-year-old girl's hair blonde. Maybe some people won't think there is anything wrong with that but I think that it's complete inappropriate and possibly unsafe.

I'm just at a loss as to what can be done for these kids.

That is really sad to hear op. Hopefully those kids won't end up too messed up. Is there anything else you can do for them?

I haven't seen the mom or kids since my last post in Sept 08. I do however keep up with what's going on because I'm in regular contact with the kids' aunt and grandmother. Since my last update, the middle boy (14) was arrested for burglary and admitted to burglarizing several other homes and businesses. The police filed 7 charges against him, 3 of which were felonies. He now has an ankle monitor. The aunt told me that the boy told her the only reason he's staying out of trouble is because of the monitor and when it comes off, he'll go back to doing whatever he wants.

I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing I can do for these kids. They (and their mom) need professional counseling/therapy. I wish them all the best.
